New article: Timing and distribution of fish larvae in the Kattegat
Last month, work from Kris-Emil Jørgensen’s PhD was published in Fisheries Oceanography. The paper titled “Biophysical Factors Controlling Spatiotemporal Variability in Fishes' Early Life History Distribution in the Kattegat Ecosystem“ explains the spring 2021 distribution of sandeel (Ammodytes spp.), cod (Gadus morhua) and dab (Limanda limanda) larvae in the Kattegat. We found that the patterns in larval density varied in space and time, and were consistent with the different life histories of the fish (e.g. spawning time and mode) as well as the influence of advection from the North Sea on the ichthyoplankton.
