New Article: Explaining the Distribution of Veined Squid at Its Northern Extent.
In March, the MSc work of Nathalie Bach was published in Fisheries Oceanography as an article titled “Biophysical Factors Controlling the Distribution of Veined Squid Loligo forbesii at Its Northern Extent“. In a collaboration with Havstovan - Faroe Marine Research Institute in the Faroe Islands, we describe the spatiotemporal distribution of veined squid in the Faroe Islands, at the edge of its distribution range. We link the increased probability of presence to increased temperature, shallower waters and seasonality consistent with the squid’s spawning period.
